The path of despair
I have missed my library.

Never has there been a better place to go for respite from the troubles around one.

After laying in bed for a few days with Erestor, Glorfindel finally felt well enough to get out of bed. His appearance had suffered greatly in his illness, but this morning he woke bright and early and bathed for hours just to get his hair just right. He felt like his proud and confident self again when his hair had it’s golden luster again. With Erestor still sleeping, he left briefly for the Great Hall to have breakfast there for the first time in a week or so. He was overwhelemed by the greetings he received. Everyone cared more about the well being of the old captain then he had thought. Of course he explained te condition of Rivendell’s best Counsellor as well with a broad smile upon his face. After making a plate of food for Erestor, he returned to his rooms with every intention to speaking to Elrond later on. He entered the room quietly and placed the food on the bedside table and sat at the edge of the bed gently. Reaching over to Erestor he pushed the dark midnight strands out of his face and spoke very softly so to not startle him when he woke. “Erestor, melamin, let me see those beautiful eyes of yours.” He cooed as he continued to stroke the dark hair laying next to him.

Erestor blinked for a few moments, smiling up at Glorfindel, before his expression grew wide-eyed and he bolted up in bed. “Oh, Valar, how long have I been sleeping? I have so much work to do… I cannot imagine how high the piles must be… Goheno nin… I… so much to do, so much to do…” Erestor began mumbling softly to himself, rattling off a list.

Glorfindel chuckled softly before placing a finger over Erestor’s lips, “Shh, vanima. You have not been sleeping for that long. Work can wait, you must eat first.” Standing from the bed for a brief moment, he retrieved the plate full of food from the bedside table and placed it in front of Erestor once he returned to the bed, sitting down again. “Eat, melamin. I know you are hungry.”

/me frowns, but acquiesces, nodding gratefully in spit of himself toward the food, before looking back up at Glorfindel with a smile. “Hannon lle, lirimaer. I suppose delaying for a little food… will not be so bad in the end, but…” He looks pointedly at the other elf. “No more… I have much to do…”

I feel… a little better… but now I am hungry…
glorfindel-of-gondolin replied to your post: Hmm. I think I actually slept…
I should hope so…my bed is comfortable enough.

Goheno nin, I should not keep you from it…

Hmm. I think I actually slept…

Glorfindel choked back a sob and sighed softly as turned he gaze downwards, “And I you, Erestor..can we not have what we once did if we both feel the same?” It was a hard question for him to…
Glorfindel returned his kiss tenderly, reach to wipe away his tears. “We need rest, melamin. You can lay in my bed, I will lay on the couch..I just want you to stay with me.”

Erestor nods silently, and slowly walks toward the bed, smiling at Glorfindel before falling asleep.

Glorfindel pulled his hands away gingerly only to kneel beside Erestor and envelope the other in his arms. “There is nothing to forgive, Erestor. We are in this state together because we share a soul. You know this as well as I do….We cannot go on with this grief and these broken hearts…let me love you again, Erestor. Let yourself love me as your heart desires.”

Erestor did not stop the tears this time, and spent a few moments in silence, relaxing in Glorfindel’s arms, before he tilted his head toward the other elf. Pulling Glorfindel close, the only answer Erestor gave was a gentle kiss on the lips.

Erestor gripped Glorfindel’s hands with his, as best he could in his weakened stat. He looked up at the other elf and nodded once, before bending his head down to rest against the blonde’s hands. “Yes…”

Erestor moved and knelt by Glorfindel, taking the other’s hands in his. “Amin… hiraetha… amin mela lle, amin hiraetha, goheno nin… I know I should not… Amin sinta… Boromir…” He broke off again, trying to hide the tears, his voice faltering. “I… came back once. Elrond… will help… I will come back again… for you… so you can be happy. I… must not… should not… be selfish, amin sinta, goheno nin. But, saes, you had to know, even… if we cannot have that now…”

He paused for a long moment, before whispering hoarsely. “The ring… is yours… to keep… forever… whatever happens between us. I… want you to have it.”

Glorfindel sobbed again when Erestor took his hands, and he listened to him intently and waited patiently for his turn to speak. He shook his head and frowned slightly, “I…I am not with Boromir any longer, I could not give him what he deserves because my heart belongs to another.” Reaching up he ran his fingertips along Erestor’s cheek and his jaw. “Can we not have what we once did? Do you not love me still?”

Erestor kissed Glorfindel’s fingertips, bowing his head slightly, his voice quavering and barely audible. “I… have always loved you, Glorfindel, lirimaer… I… always… will… though I may not always show it, as you can…”
